Setting a Thanksgiving Table

One of my favorite things in life is sitting around a pretty table with great friends and delicious food. I am most certain that when we get to heaven we will dine at a banqueting table (Isaiah 25:6-9) that has not only delicious food and the most wonderful company, but will be beautifully set.

For me, planning a party is all in the details. From the burlap silverware pouches to the wine cork place card holders. I love details, its what makes a good party a great party...that and the company!

How are you setting your Thanksgiving table?

Filter Friday: Thankful for the Small Things

It's been a great week, full of food and fall fun.
As we start the month of November and rapidly approach Thanksgiving I want to have a thankful heart.

It seems to me that we move to quickly from Halloween to Christmas and never take the time to enjoy a season of Thanksgiving.
I want to slow down. I want to enjoy the small things.

I want to stop in the busyness and be thankful. Thankful for silly friends, coffee breaks, decorated cookies, and the opportunity to vote.

Today, I want to be thankful for the small things.

Happy Reformation Day

It's fall and I haven't carved a pumpkin, eaten candy corn, roasted marshmallows or even had a pumpkin spice latte. I've blamed my lack of fall spirit on the hot Florida weather. But I can't use that excuse anymore, no no! Because, my friends we are having a cold front. Right now it is a cool 70 degrees outside, my air condition has stopped running for the first time since April, I broke out my fancy pant boots and I'm rockin' an infinity scarf. It got so cold here in the sunshine state that I wore socks to bed last night...that's pretty darn cold.

So, since I'm wearing socks, scarves and boots, why not decorate pumpkin cookies?

Happy Fall to All! (And specifically, Happy Reformation Day!)

Filter Friday: Life Seen Through My iPhone

Happy 2nd Birthday to my sweet pup Calvin! Calvin was able to enjoy a peanut butter yogurt cone from a local Fro-Yo shop. But it wouldn't be a party without his favorite pal and brother...

Meet Clive! Our sweet new member of the fam who loves to cuddle and play tug-a-war with his brother.

They love each other. And Calvin is still the goofball of the family.

Aren't they cuties?

Speaking of cuties...

What would life be like with out instagram filters?

I dusted off my mixer...

I haven't baked in a long time. The last time I really planned something was my Valentine Crafternoon. I have many excuses: school, internship, work, etc. Time flies huh?  I blinked and my blog hasn't been updated since February. I wasn't even sure if I wanted to blog anymore. Actually, I think I had announced to my husband that I had hung up my blogging hat. That is until this past week.

A friend texted me and said she knew someone who wanted to order cupcakes for his daughters' birthday. I said no. Then I said yes. I semi-panicked, I dusted off my mixer and I made some cupcakes.

I loved every minute.

Sweet Romance

Valentine's Day has come and gone...

..and now we have the rest of the year to show how much we love.

Isn't that the best of all?

"For, you see, each day I love you more, Today more than yesterday and less than tomorrow."

Crafternoon: The Menu

I love Valentine's Day. I know it's cheesy and over-commercialized, but I love a day set aside to shower that special someone with love! I'm also a big fan of the color pink, chocolate, and flowers, so Valentine's Day is like the perfect storm.

I also love crafting, Martha Stewart and throwing a party...thus Crafternoon. Last year, I had my first Valentine's Day Crafternoon (Part 1 and Part 2), which included finger foods. This year, I realized that it would be easier and less expensive to make a light lunch.

The Menu
Strawberry, Apple and Pecan Mixed Green Salad served with Balsamic Vinaigrette
Chicken Salad with a choice of Rye, Ciabatta or 9-Grain Bread
Fruit: Blueberries, Grapes and Strawberries
Hummus with Crackers and Carrots
Strawberry Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting

This salad is my all-time favorite salad. So fresh and crisp!

Nothing says Valentine's Day like Strawberries covered (or in this case drizzled) with chocolate.

And of course cupcakes. The heart-shaped toppers, in my unbiased opinion, were super cute!

I just finished reading "Community and Growth" by Jean Vanier, and I wanted to share with you one of my favorite quotes from the book...I think its appropriate given the season, as well as the life and love we are called to share with others.
"We are all called to do, not extraordinary things, but very ordinary things, with an extraordinary love that flows from the heart of God."

What are some of the ordinary things you do to reveal your extraordinary love?
